Finn has taken the time since the time since meeting Jamie hit the week mark and passed it to sketch more. Now there is a tidy pile of about a dozen colored sketched on one side of him, and perhaps twenty in black-and-white. He also has a small sturdy journal in which is written

Prices: Dinner or two? Ask Jamy.

and a sketch. He is half-concentrating on the sketching and half keeping an eye out for his business partner.

Instead of saying anything by way of greeting, Jamie plunks a pile of posters down in front of Finn and announces, "You're going to need to draw something on most all of these - sample of the wares, you know."

After this, he offers a helpful grin.

Finn starts suddenly as the posters land, only relaxing marginally when he sees who set them there.

"All right," he says, peacably. "I already sold two, but I didn't know what to sell them for."

This seems important.

"How much did you want of it?"

"Two already?" Jamie says, impressed. "Quick work! Ah - how much of the profits, you mean?"

He scratches the back of his head absently. "Tricksy to figure, seeing as the currency here's so odd."

"Yes," he agrees, "I do not understand money, so I thought maybe the price of a dinner or two per one? And the Bar gave that price, and it was Plourr so she gave the bar what they were worth to hold."

He shrugs.

(He does not actually have any debt, so next to his name is what would be approximately $40 in 2007 Earth money, though it is in the currency of Eiattu. Plourr takes advantage of the fact that Finn does not understand money and overpays. A tragedy, indeed.)

Jamie, on the other hand, has a debt that is . . . already somewhat impressive, for the short time he's spent at the bar. Thirteen-year-old boys eat a lot, even if they are only growing at a glacial pace.

"That sounds about right," he agrees. "As for my take - well, the posters've still got to go up. And I'll be spreading by word-of-mouth after that, of course, but you'll still be the one doing all the real work, so - twenty per cent sound about right?"

"All right," Finn says, smiling at him. He has no idea what a reasonable percent would have been, and is relieved Jamie figured it out for him. "I'll tell the bar about it, then. How've...you been?"

Twenty per cent, Jamie figures, is about double what he's actually earned - which is a good number, gives a feeling of coming out comfortably ahead, but not so much so that he'll feel guilty about it. It all balances out.

"Ah - great!" he says, cheerfully. "Mostly been working on your posters and taking my ease. Oh -" He sits up straighter, pleased with himself. "I did promise this griffin I know that I'd let her see a sample of your work, she sounded really interested. Loads of siblings to buy presents for or something."

Finn grins. "I--don't think I've met her. Griffins are hard to miss, though."

"She's about twice the size of anyone else," Jamie agrees. "And twice as shiny to boot - all golden-colored. You'll recognize her when you see her if you run into her before I do, no worries."

Finn nods amiably and glances back down at the signs.

"Just--landscapes about the eges?"

Jamie nods also.

"Or anything, you know, that'll show off your talents. I mean, you're the one with talent," he adds, with a graciously expansive gesture. "My artistic skills are more, ah, on the not-existing side."

"My advertising skillls..." Finn returns, with a quick amused smile. "Thanks, Jamie, really."

And the boys conversation devolves from talk of business to talk of sports, and talk of friends, and...talk in general. Teenagedom is not so much serious business--or not in Milliways, and not now.
